Yesterday I went back and listened to this. I remembered liking it as a kid and wanted to go back to see how it was. It was definitely faster paced then the books that I read now but seeing how it's written for I would say 10-14 year old kids it would need to be faster paced and not filled with over description.

That being said I still liked the story quite a bit but I'm not changing my rating simply because it just isn't up to par with the books that I read/listened to now.

I am actually quite pleased with this book. When I first started it I was a little hesitant. You could clearly see that it was intended for a younger audience, that being said I do wish I had read this when I was 12 none the less I still enjoyed it. After about the first 50 pages it really started to pick up pace and no longer seemed like I wound't enjoy it being older than 12. All in all I'm really pleased with how this book turned out and will definitely continue on with the rest of the books.

I finished this book because a friend of mine insisted on my reading it. Honestly I probably would have liked it better when I was younger. There's little explanation and the characters names and places are kind of hard to keep up with when they're all thrown at you at once. But I pretty much expect this from any initial book in a series. It was a quick read so we'll see where it goes from here.
