Matilda, a precocious and unusually brilliant child, lives with a shady car salesman father, bingo obsessed mother, and dull brother. Left alone almost every day, Matilda begins to go to the library where she becomes a voracious reader. When Matilda starts school, she meets her wonderful teacher, Miss Honey, and her terrible principal, Miss Trunchbull. Matilda must use her extraordinary brain power to help Miss Honey and the rest of her classmates.
A good story to read aloud to 2nd-4th graders.

I read this with my daughters. Dahl, as always, was a joy to read. While the books are for children I still found the story humorous and witty. Reading the source material was a joy after growing up watching the film. My kids loved the book.

my comfort book <33
I’ve read Matilda multiple times and each time I find something new to love about it. It’s like the feeling of contentment and weightlessness you feel sitting with a friend as you watch the sun set and understand that in this moment of intimacy, life in its wondurous fragility is indeed, very beautiful.

Still a firm favourite after almost 30 years. Matilda and her bookish ways was a great heroine. A slew of fantastic female characters in fact: the awful mother, Trunchbull, Miss Honey. Possibly the best of all the Dahl books in my humble opinion.

Oh, the nostalgia in one book! I loved Matilda growing up and the fact that Kate Winslet read it to me made this an enjoyable read. Winslet did an amazing job capturing the characters voices. Exactly how I thought they would sound as well!
