There's potential in this series and I liked Melissa and the world building.
The book is a bit slow in the first part but when it takes speed it's entertaining and gripping.
I hope to read another story in this series soon.
Many thanks to the author for this digital copy, all opinions are mine

There's a meme going around that asks "Why is the 'chosen one' always a teenager? ... Give me a story with a chosen one who's a 42 year old mom that has already seen some sh*t and is totally out of f-'s to give."

This is that story.

This book is like a cozy weekend with the girls. The author depicts a small tourist town in Brown County, Indiana quite well, and she weaves a spell of magical mystery starring endearing witchy women you'll want to have as bffs! Miss Fitz herself is pulled many different directions, like many of us, making the lives of those she loves better in all the right ways. So, it's no surprise that when magic blooms in her, she uses her newfound powers to help others around her. The book is a cozy mystery, but at its core, it's the story of a wonderful friendship shared by three women, and what they can do when they put their heads together. If you're a cat person like me, Coal the cat is a delightful sidekick. If you like dogs, you'll laugh out loud at how their thoughts are depicted in this story.

TL;DR I loved this witchy midlife mystery book, I fell in love with the main characters, and you will too!
