Fun Wrecker to Oh so much more

This was an entertaining and enjoyable read! I love Mira Lyn’s Slashers series and see characters again from previous books is always a delight and an added bonus while reading the newest couple’s story.

Axel was all in on fatherhood after being shocked with the surprise news delivered to his door literally just hours from his son’s arrival. His dedication to becoming the best Daddy to little Otto was sweet and sexy too.

Nora was a heroine who made my heartbreak for how much her parents took advantage of her and how loving she still was to her siblings. Her coming to Axel’s rescue, her nemesis neighbor, was engaging and hilarious at times and poignant others.

The ‘Be the Bunny’ advice is still LOL funny and Wade telling Axel to listen to him since his girl is wearing his ring was awesome. Loved these scenes!

When Slayers hockey player Axel unexpectedly finds out he's a father, he turns to his normally antagonistic neighbor, Nora, for help.

Being the oldest of twelve kids, Nora spent her childhood - and beyond - raising her siblings. While she's finally found herself on her own for the first time, she's loath to fall back into a position where she's giving all of herself to others. She's determined to finally start living the life she wants. But she sees the desperation in Axel's eyes as he holds his son.

Nora agrees to a temporary arrangement as she looks for a more permanent job. Both Axel and Nora can't deny their attraction to each other, but fear giving in to their feelings will derail their carefully made plans for the future, and, in Nora's case, send her right back to where she was in her childhood: putting her dreams and desires on hold for someone else.

I really enjoyed this entry in the series. I almost feel like it was a bit unexpected. I don't know that I remember seeing Nora in passing in any of the previous books so the beginning of the story was a bit of me piecing things together.

Once it got started, though, I absolutely loved this story. Seeing Axel step up into the unexpected role of father and do whatever it took to take care of his son was so sweet. And I completely understood Nora's perspective in not wanting to have a repeat of her past, but also having a big heart in realizing when someone needs help.

I think this story is more on the sweet than steamy side. There's a lot more relationship building that happens before Nora and Axel really admit to and act upon their feelings for one another. There's a bit of a backstory between them, and I kind of wish this was something that played out better within the story. Getting the full picture of where they started would have I think helped in forming the emotional impact of them being together.

The story is very self-contained within the small family dynamic formed between Axel, Nora, and Axel's son Otto. We're shown a lot of navigating this new dynamic and all the ebbs and flows. There were a few times I wished the storyline would have opened up to include more of Nora and Axel's outside influences (i.e. their families and Axel's teammates). There are certainly moments where this happens, but for me, they were rather fleeting. While I liked how close we get to the main two (or I guess three), I still just wanted to check in with the other characters more. This would have been especially nice to see with Nora as one of the issues in her childhood of caregiving was that she did not get to experience normal peer friendships. I wanted to see her get more of that on page and not mentioned in passing.

Overall, though, I think this one is my favorite of the series. It had me wanting to stay with the characters long after I finished. Hopefully, we'll get some updates in the next book.

The fifth swoon-worthy man in this incredible series. Axel is everything, especially when he's with his son. Because who wouldn't want to see a hot, built guy holding a newborn against him? And then how he sets aside his desires to give Nora what she needs? Yes, definitely swoon-worthy.

As for Nora, while I liked her, I thought she could have been stronger. She finally left her toxic family situation, but I thought she'd could have stood up for herself with her family because her relationship with her mother was not healthy. Although we never really see it, Nora mentions how her mother basically used her as unpaid child labor with a nice side of emotional abuse. And yet, Nora feels guilty for leaving despite she never had a childhood and lost so much.

I did like that there were cameos from some of the previous stories and hints on the next story. And while Axel is at the top of the list, Vaughn still edges him out as my fave.

Axel & Nora’s story isn’t at all what I expected. He’s not the player you would expect and Nora is so much more than the “fun-wrecker” neighbor. And oh, baby Otto will just grab ahold of your heartstrings!

It’s all about giving each other choices and options and realizing that your wants and needs can change when you share them with the right person.

Neighbors Axel and Nora have this attraction that started off as something they both could see happening, then it turned into Nora not being his biggest fan thinking he was a huge playboy. When Nora is faced with having to move, find a new job Axel thinks about stepping in and saving the day for her but fate has other plans in the form of Otto. Axel hires Nora to be Otto’s nanny so lines have been established and chemistry is placed on the back burner but sometimes feelings are hard to resist. Axel is this amazing man who is caring, loving, loyal, and the perfect father. He made me laugh and swoon throughout the story I fell hard for him. Nora wants to live her life after having to practically raise her own siblings and be their parent. She thinks that she needs to hav more so when things heat up will she want to stay or will she leave letting go of the two men she has fallen for? Such a sweet and cute read that is full of laughs and steam.

So I accidentally read this pretty much right after I read and disliked another book in this series. The good news is this one was better. I honestly like the nanny trope and the hate to love was pretty fun. The pacing was odd because it just needed to be longer. We needed longer to understand their feelings so that the ending was more dramatic.

Like always, Mira Lynn Kelly outdid herself with this book. I fell head over heels for not only Axel and Nora, but sweet baby Otto!
Axel has had his eye on his fun wrecking neighbor, Nora for a while. There is just something about her that pulls him in! And when he is thrusted into fatherhood in the blink of an eye, he finds himself looking to Nora for help! And well, it just so happens she is desperate for not only a job, but a place to live. The two embark on a sleepless night filled with bottles, diapers, and so many baby snuggles. I love how Mira Lynn captured the daze of newborn filled nights and days so perfectly. And let me tell you these two were so in love with baby Otto he was never once attention deprived in this book! I think that was one of the things I appreciated...sometimes authors have a single parent as a lead, and you wonder throughout the book where the child is. Not in this book. Watching Axel not only fight off his ever growing feelings and fight off attention she is gaining from other males was hilarious. Axel has an alpha male streak a mile wide and he was so funny! And so sweet. He definitely was always looking out for Nora and Otto. There was a scene where Axel and Otto crash a thing Nora is at that had me laughing out loud! Then there is sweet and sassy Nora. I thought she was definitely going to be only sassy, but this girl has a giant heart and was always able to say the right thing and get Axel out of his own head. And man this woman is a rockstar with a baby! But she also has dreams that she is working hard for.
I laughed and I cried! I simply adored how their friendship and feelings grew, and then when it was more. WOW. SO hot! I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention the other hockey players. There were several of them, and she was spilling the tea on some of the future Slayer boys! You are going to want to make sure that you read this book, you will not be sorry!

Dirty Deal is the fifth book in the Slayers Hockey series. This book is told from dual points of view by Axel and Nora.

Axel and Nora are neighbors who don't get along. Nora wants nothing to do with Axel and his packages that keep getting delivered to her address. When she confronts him to come to get them because she's moving he promises to come. However, when he doesn't show up she gets mad and goes over there a few days later, finding out he found out he got a woman pregnant and is now a single father to a two-day-old baby (Otto.) Axel is desperate and asks Nora to move in to help him to be his live in Nanny. Nora agrees because she is desperate to not have to move back in with her family.

As Nora lives in Axel's house they start to fall for each other. However, she has plans to move to Paris in a few months and Axel is trying to find another nanny for when she moves. As their feelings grow so does the time for when it's time for her to leave. What happens when that time comes? Can Axel let Nora go? Will Nora be able to leave Axel and Otto behind? Will their relationship survive them being apart?

I loved getting to know Axel and Nora, and of course baby Otto! I can't wait to see what happens next in this series!
