This was a timely, thoughtful, yet super-fast read. No matter who you are, you'll learn some compelling things from this little book. The Dalai Lama really is an Ocean of Wisdom!

The practice of mindfulness. . . .Inclusion, empathy and esp ETHICS, are things we should become more aware of, within ourselves and the world we live in...
Wonderful, brief but very deep

This short audiobook from BorrowBox was well worth listening to. It is only about 90 mins long and includes an interesting interview as well as history of this amazing man

I was skeptical of this at first as the description of the audio book didnโ€™t really give any clue what the book contained. I actually really enjoyed this and after a few disappointing spiritual reads recently, Iโ€™m happy I made time for this. An Appeal to The World is not simply a speech appealing for peace, it is an introduction to secular ethics, the history of Tibet, the history of the Dalai Lama XIV. You are in conversation with him in a way that leaves you feeling optimistic about peace despite the terrible conflicts going on right now. An uplifting short read I would recommend to all feeling hopeless.

The sentiment presented is wise and true, but the book itself is too second-hand journalistic. It's a collection of quotes from multiple interviews with some dubious interpretations thrown in. I was hoping for more Dalai Lama and much less Franz Alt. (Not that I have anything against Franz Alt, but there was too much of him in the book that should have been the Dalai Lama's opportunity to appeal to the world.)

An easy read, set up well to allow reading in chunks. Definitely a message needed in the current world. Highly recommend.
