The best book I’ve read all year. It’s like reading prayers, and they’re all about pop culture, which is so strange and beautiful and powerful. READ THIS BOOK.

I love this so so so so so so much.

I know I’m a million years late to the party, but oh my god. This was so incredible. Listening to the audiobook, which is narrated by the author, elevated this already-fantastic work to another level. I loved listening to Abdurraqib talk about music, talk about Columbus and Ohio and the Midwest and America, about his family and life. I cried hearing about his mom, I laughed hearing about Carly Rae Jepsen and her shoulder dancing. I’m gonna be thinking about this forever i think.

This is a stunning collection of essays. Beautifully written, moving and important.

I’m tryna get my writing to this level for real. Endlessly inspiring.

These essays, despite being written at various times on various subjects lead incredibly well into each other. While I didn't find this easy to read, I did find it hard to put down once I got started.
