I really enjoy his writing style even when I wasn’t familiar with the musician being discussed he still added enough details to get the emotion he was experiencing and his reaction. Basically reading all his stuff this year. Especially good on audio and has had me looking up and discovering new music.
Not interested in the book now. Essays well written, but not sure if I have enough interest in music / artists to find enjoyment

His writing is deeply moving and deeply entertaining. I love this collection and I cannot wait to read everything Hanif has written. (I’m on a first name basis with any author with words I feel connected to.)

I do love the poetry and the music narrative. I feel like there's a way to love life from this nervous author. Chapter 8 is hilarious. Chapter 9 is Prince, and I didn't even really know about Prince but this had me crying over their death. I want my cousin to hear chapter 9, and my brother. I want to see my 2016 self listen and read chapter 11. I want my other cousins to hear chapter 12. I want my dad to hear chapter 13 and 14. 17 is for anyone wanting suicide. 26 kills me. 28 and 29 starts the same. 34 reminds me that not everyone loves their mom, and that i am everyone and this man is not me. 35 brings me strength about Nina Simone and I feel less alone. I want my aunt to hear chapter 41. I want my brother to hear chapter 43. I want my sister to hear the Eminem chapter 44. 47 made me feel reassured.
