I feel like a whole lot of nothing happened? And that this is also somehow setting up for a third book that never came? Also the ending was very rushed. I found myself rushing to get to the end for it to just be over. The first one had potential. This second one squandered it.

I loved the first book but this one was pathetic! Ileni was so indecisive and lost it was a pain to read! I loved her and Sorin in the first book because they were strong and he was her safety net. The second book? It was like twilight all over again! She couldn't decide anything and when she did, it was the wrong choice! That was the most pathetic sequel I have ever read!!

It was an amazing book. I wanted to give it a 4 star. I didn't, because we deserved a third book. That ending left me unsatisfied. I honestly thought it was going to continue. I have so many questions needing answers.

I don't want to talk about this book.I really really enjoyed [b:Death Sworn|13549218|Death Sworn (Death Sworn, #1)|Leah Cypess|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1372091946s/13549218.jpg|19115106]. It has action, and super tough smart heroine and fascinating love interest. I missed Sorin. And I din't like the way the book went or ended. That's all.

Ileni's action-packed adventure among assassins and sorcerers continues in this exciting sequel.
Ileni constantly struggles with the direction she wants to choose. Yet she has grown since she first entered the caves and now that she has headed into the Empire to see their "truth", it's no wonder she is indecisive.
You'll be on the edge of your seat as you follow the masterfully crafted plot twists that Ileni must navigate to make her ultimate earth-shattering decision- but first she (and you!) must figure out whose side to take... if any! Is there really a clear distinction between good and evil? Ileni, a badass yet still thoughtful and principled heroine, will take you on an adventure you don't want to miss!

Final rating 2.5/5 stars. And I feel this is a generous rating. This finale to the death sworn duology just feel flat for me. I am a firm believer in love conquers all, maybe I'm a hopeless romantic but this is what I was hoping for. I would recommend the first one, but unfortunately this one didn't do it for me.

Nghh... mixed feelings bro, mixed feelings.

*full review to come*

Pro:
>>> I learned a lot more about the magic.
>>> It was neat seeing how the dreaded Empire looked and worked.
>>> As always it was great seeing that Ileni wasn't one of those MC's who falls into every trap set for her.

Con:
>>> But still kinda in the dark about the magic.
>>> This book really didn't meet my expectations after the first one.
>>> I felt like Ileni's character was almost completely different from the way she acted in the first book.
>>> There was so much turmoil over all her decisions only for her to make one that, to me, felt like she just gave up.
>>> It just didn't click with me??
>>> I dunno man.
