Reading Chiang’s stories reminds me a lot of reading Borges. If you want to, it is easy to just enjoy them for the stories themselves. But each story centers on some kind of philosophical or moral puzzle. To read the story is to journey along with Chiang as he works through the puzzle and explores its various dimensions. And of course it doesn’t hurt that the stories are also about fun things like time travel, parallel universes, and adorable virtual pets.

I didn't like any of the short stories. I didn't get all the accolades. I didn't think I like his writing style. I made it to 71%, but I couldn't finish it.

The kind of book where I told others about it afterwards. Lovely. I think the macaw one stuck with me the most. Also the idea of writing being parallelled with a technology that changes how we remember things. interesting.
