A beautifully illustrated, if not very comprehensive, guide to some Inuit mythology, specifically mythology related to the Arctic. I feel like this is a good starting place for people who want to introduce children to this mythology and the pronunciation guide at the end was very helpful. I didn’t find what I was looking for (which may or may not be a real thing), but it was still a worthwhile read.

I have been reading through as many Inhabit Media books as I can get my hands on at the library, and fortunately my library seems to have an excellent selection. Those That Cause Fear is a great example.

This is the first book I have read by Neil Christopher (yet), and I definitely enjoyed his writing style. I have previously seen art from Germaine Arnaktauyok (Arctic Comics), and really enjoyed her work both previously and here. Those That Cause Fear is a collection of different arctic monsters based on traditional Inuit stories. Some of the creatures were entirely new to me, others were ones I recognised from having read some of the traditional stories through other Inhabit Media books, Arctic Comics, and Moonshot: The Indigenous Comics Collection. The pronunciation guide at the back was incredibly helpful.

I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for traditional Inuit stories or anyone looking to read about monstrous creatures--the collection is appropriate for any child old enough to be interested in monstrous creatures, but is interesting and enjoyable for any age up from that.
