I was in a bit of a romance reading slump, trying a few and then DNFing them. This got me going!

I liked this better than the mermaid book, but I think the ending sucks. It was all a good read up until then. To be fair, I don’t like the ending of the Disney movie either, it’s always my least favourite part lol but I didn’t like the end of the mermaid book either, so I think it might just be how these are wrapped up in general that I dislike and not just because he turns back into a human etc.

I give this 3.5/4 stars. I loved the romance and how strong of a female lead Pippa was. I liked that I got to see Duncan grow as a character and was glad that he wasn't a typical male character. I would have liked to of seen more of them together to get to know him better. The only thing that bothered me was how graphic this book was compared to the other books I've read by her. Reading sex-scenes in books doesn't bother me, but when it's on a graphic in-depth detail of every body part and action, I really could do without that. Like little details here and there don't bother me, but in this book, it was like it was over done. And for me, that took away from the romance a little bit because I felt like it was more focused on them 'doing it' than falling in love.

I did enjoy this book,but i really like the mermaid's knight more. I didn't like that Belle was not the main character, but i did get over it and liked Pippa after a while . Their was some bestiality what was uncomfortable to me. It also felt like she changed up the plot of the series. Like some of the rules about what happens when they die. I dont want to get to much onto it because spoliers. Over all it is a light story and a quick read.

This is a case of lil' whingey me looking for a nice easy/fluffy/shallow read and then complaining that the story is too easy/fluffy/shallow.
The low rating is not a case of it being badly written or crappy, it just did not work for me. Had trouble in staying in the story, didn't really care about any of the characters much. On top of it, I had heard really good comments about a really humorous authorial voice but sadly, the humor didn't click with me much at all. I was just kinda bored and started skimming in the second half of the novella.

This is a reread for me but still remains cute as hell. This is a short and sweet (and smutty) retelling of Beauty and the Beast with interfering fairy godmothers and a spunky heroine.
