It's nice to have an ending and conclusion to this story, but I really feel that it could have ended differently. In spite of the poem by Dylan Thomas, it felt like it went gentle. There was room for where it's open ended, but with clarity of where everyone is going.

I loved the poetics in this book and felt they were more appropriately done in this one than the previous one. I enjoyed the dialogue and action and the progression as well.

What gave me whiplash the most was the constant POV switches. I liked getting in everyone's head, but it was a bit jarring at times. Ally Condie did a remarkable job at making three first person POVs different from each other. I felt that Ky and Cassia would blend together and Ky and Xander did too. It's a balance.

Overall, the book had some interesting reveals. I saw quite a few of them coming, the bigger ones, but the read was quick and never felt like it was dragging as the previous book did.

My favorite of the series. Ms. Condie brought everything from the first two books together nicely and makes the torture of the 2nd book worthwhile. Reached makes the doldrums if Crossed a necessary trial the characters needed to become fully realized. My favorite part is how Ms. Condie narrates the story from Cassie, Xander, and Ky's separate viewpoints in first person and how it allows you to see them each evolve into different people with their own gifts and outlook!
Very well done conclusion to a good series!

At times, this book moved a lot more slowly than I expected. Like the second, it was very contemplative, and I think that may be why the last two books may not go over as well as the first, which was more action-packed. Still, I liked this series as a whole and liked that it posed some very difficult questions without laying out any really black and white answers. More complete review to come.

Updated review:

I read this a while back, I would agree with the comments. The society is never explained and the story is loose, nothing important ever happens to the characters. Will bump this down to two stars because it was ok.

Earlier review:

The story is pretty simple but still enjoyable. Feels like a spin on the hunger games but with less tension put on the characters, oh and a love triangle of course. Still worth the read though.

I really enjoyed Reached. The plague in this book was a really interesting thing to read about Post-2020. I loved the development of a cure and, honestly, just all the medical things. It could've been more detailed, but it wasn't something I expected from this book, so it didn't bother me that it wasn't.  I didn't care much for the romances in this story towards the end. I cared more about the FMC and her family, as well as the politics of a revolution.

This book took a lot of unexpected turns. I thought it was going to (much like the first ones) focus on the romantic relationships among the characters. This one quickly went into the Rising and then had a plague that took up most of the book. It felt a little stale. The story was interesting, but it felt hollow. I also was rooting for her to end up with the other guy. Still a good story. I am interested to see what other books this author has for us in the future.

I thought this was a fitting ending to the series. The concept for the book's overlying truths was fascinating and struck close to home - there are a lot of small details of this book that made it stick with me and linger throughout the day even when I wasn't reading and days later I still think of it often.

Matched was good... Crossed was not... Reached was excellent!

I'm very pleased with this final book in the trilogy. It was much more exciting than Crossed and had a lot more depth than the other books. All in all, I'm very happy with this and I think it did a good job wrapping up most of the loose ends. I love how it referred back to little details in Matched and how those details had such a profound impact on the conclusion of this book.
