Excellent series of short stories that weave together into a larger tale. Exquisite balance of H.P.L.'s own brand of creeping magical dread and 50's racial tension. Matt Ruff's style makes the pages fly by, with every chapter pulling you into the next.

This book definitely needs to be marketed as a short story collection. I know they're linked...but still. It makes a massive difference in the reader's anticipation of pacing and plot.

It's a good book. My only problem was that some of the stories/chapters was inconsistent. The book start off strong. Somewhere in the middle it's all over the place in terms of quality. I would still recommend.
