I think these stories are about why people make the choices they make, how the circumstances of their lives constrain the choices available to them. And yet I think the stories take their characters seriously and don’t condescend or fetishize. I liked this collection, overall.

This was delightfully twisted. A fast, satisfying read is just what I needed.

I really appreciate that Nikki Dolson writes crime fiction that doesn’t rely on tired traumatizing tropes like rape or torture of women characters.

Quick admission: I bought this book by mistake, thinking it was something else. That being said, despite not being a short story fan, I thought this was really well-done and I'm glad I read it.

Gripping collection of short stories that really focus on the real human emotions of real life scenarios we’ve all faced in some form or another.

Another great addition to the collection from the good folks over at Bronzeville Books and I look forward to seeing what’s next from Nikki Dolson.
