Anytime I see the word "kidnapping" in a plot summary, I think "drama." And drama is indeed the best way to describe volume 6 of Dengeki Daisy. I was surprised that the kidnapping was not the main subject of the volume. It infused the entire plot, but it happened early on and a lot more happened after it was resolved.

The plot keeps getting more and more complicated. A little silly, I suppose, but this isn't the type of manga that you expect to be particularly realistic. I do like how all the characters have layers. The bad guys aren't purely bad and the good guys aren't purely good.

I loved the way the kidnapping went down. It was the perfect romantic solution. Teru had to use her smarts, bravery, and humor to get herself out of the problem, but Kurosaki still had the chance to come in and play hero. They both emerged stronger. I do love how strong a character Teru is consistently throughout all the volumes. Kurosaki is there to protect her, but she is capable of caring for herself. Kurosaki is good moral and romantic support.

There wasn't enough romance in this book for me. I love romantic tension, but the tease can start to be overdrawn. And that's what I'm worried that Dengeki Daisy is becoming. I want to see Teru and Kurosaki really be together. I want more romantic scenes that Motomi is so good at drawing.

I'm curious to see where the series goes from here. Hopefully I can read volumes 7 and 8 soon.

~3.5-4/5
I think it's been too long since I last read volume 5 (again, not my fault; no store seemed to want to have this volume in, but were okay with all the others), because my excitement for it has dimmed. A lot. Which I'm a little upset by, because I know I really like this series, but still didn't enjoy it as much as I have before.
The volume opens with Teru having a dream conversation with her brother, which is sweet. Then we see her waking up in Kurosaki's arms, which is so cute. But then the chapter, and volume, progresses and we see that it's still about the fake daisy hacker, and how their teacher might have/did do it, as well as stab some other girl (which I really don't remember happening, and am bothered by that; especially because I couldn't look over the last volume, as my friend has it), and that other teacher, the girl, might somehow be the mastermind behind all of it. This was interesting. To the extent that I remembered. I'm not going to get too into it, though, in an effort not to spoil it all, but there were parts that were sweet and very exciting. Some of the things from the last volume were a bit of a blur, since it's been so long, but I caught up to what was happening, for the most part. But, for a little while, I was wondering why we were still on this subject, why it hadn't been resolved already, as I'd thought we were moving on to something else now.
Although, some of it was really good. In the second chapter, for instance, when Teru gets kidnapped and does something pretty awesome (although, at first, was a bit too cliché to my liking) to the bad girl teacher.
Most of that got resolved in this volume, though. We found out who did it, but there is still more to the story, more to be revealed, as well as turning in or capturing the woman who did it all. And, near the end of the volume, Teru unknowingly runs into some guy named Akira (he has dark hair and is always wearing a hoodie, who apparently looks a bit like her brother), who I believe we have seen, but only in glimpses, before.
Aside from that, there were some nice romantic scenes. Kurosaki saves Teru at one point, and he holds her close and she calls him daisy, but then she passes out and forgets it all, which sucks. In the last chapter, he takes care of a dog, and there are several moments then. Including the ending, where he wants to touch her but doesn't because it's a bad idea, and so tells her to go away. It was so adorable. And at the end, there are two holiday themed shorts, which are both adorable as well.
It is so obvious how they feel about each other, and with Kurosaki already knowing that Teru knows about him being Daisy. They are so cute together, and I just want it to get out already. I want them to talk, and for them to kiss, and get it out and work through it. I want it to happen already!
I am enjoying this series, it's just not as charming, or exciting, as I remember, or want it to be. Although, the more I think about it, the better it's getting. Hopefully, when I read the next one, it will be even better.

This really is an unusual shoujo manga. There is *unrequited* love so far and humour, but the plot is getting darker and more graphic with each volume. Daisy (screen name), former cracker, now computer engineering genius has still not confessed his true identity to Teru and there are a few individuals who want to expose him and his hacker incidents. Each volume unravels mysteries and as soon as some questions are answered, other questions are raised. It's also quite emotional, with character depth and growth. And, sinister events are underway that put Teru in a life-threatening predicament. The almost cameo appearance of Akira seems to set an ominous atmosphere for things to come in future volumes.

It's been years since I've had a manga spree so I'm glad I succumbed to reviews of this series and struck lucky. Though one thing I have noticed is there is far more dialogue in these panels than I've been used to in the past. Still all good but the print can get teeny and I suspect I need new reading specs!!

It’s been a while since I picked this series back up but it’s still hitting. Love Teru’s growth here, especially when facing the main villain directly. Also Daisy grappling with his feelings, grappling with whatever it was that really went down with Soichiro has me more and more intrigued! It’s really like reading this for the first time and I love that for me.

I completely forgot I hadn't read this volume! I got Volume 7 earlier this week and was confused at how it seemed like a whole bunch of stuff had gone down I couldn't remotely remember. Quick look at my book list from last year and voila! It appeared I had somehow tricked myself into thinking I'd read volume 6 when I hadn't.

Teru gets kidnapped this volume
Spoilerand Ms. Motomi is confirmed to be the criminal mastermind
. This doesn't do much to move the plot along, the hacking side of things isn't touched on at all and no further progress on telling us what exactly went down with Daisy and Teru's brother. What it does do though is give Teru a chance to display her smarts again and show how much closer she and Tasuku have gotten. At this point they know how the other thinks and they can rely on that knowledge. Teru counting on Tasuku coming to save her could come off damsel-ish in another manga but after she's taken so many steps to keep Mr. Arai safe and ensure Tasuku's been updated on what's going on it instead reads as her being smart about using her available resources. Good job Teru!

On the whole this volume mostly gives some breathing space to delve into Teru and Tasuku's emotional states. The romantic slow burn has yet to become frustrating, I kind of want to smush their faces together but I'm not yet at the point of yelling at the volume in public (-cough-kiminitodoke-cough-). I feel certain something will happen to shake them up in volume 7: my guess is some movement on their current denial on Teru's awareness of who Daisy is. 4 stars
