Review
I picked up this book because I enjoyed the cover art. Combined with kids going on an adventure this book caught my interest quickly. The story pulls you in quick. The atmosphere and situations are set in a simple way leaving out to many details but giving you an idea how the little town looks and what the positions of the three children are. I was surprised with Irene's behavior taken it is 1870. She is very unladylike and bold, a bit to much for my liking to make her believable. The story is entertaining enough. There are adventures but not enough information to puzzle along with the mystery. I was surprised with the multiple mentions of gambling dens and hints of people having affairs especially because the building of the sentences and use of language indicates a middle grade audience. Sherlock and Lupin are both likable characters but fail to impress.

It was cute. Nothing amazing. I longed for something more. What, I don't know

Using the name Irene Adler as a pseudonym this is a fun ride using the characters from the Sharelock Holmes canon as youngsters and solving a mystery.
Very readable and engaging, although the first half was stronger than the second this is a good diverting entertaining read.
It will be interesting if the series will remain engaging.

Nice and well built plot, I probably would have loved it as a kid.
