The characters in this story are so endearing. Even Eugenia! The antics of Mercy within these pages mixed with DiCamillo’s way of writing really push the Mercy Watson books past all the other early chapter books into its own league. No wonder Mercy is considered a porcine wonder!

A fairly cute, beginning chapter book. I wavered between a 3 and a 4 but ultimately went with the 4 because the book uses the word "porcine." I like to imagine groups of 1st and 2nd graders walking around and using the word "porcine." The thought makes me happy.

We read this in one sitting and then my first grader and even fourth grader took it and read it again on their own. Very simple, silly story with a cute pig and great illustrations. We will definitely be reading more of this series.

Super talented writer paired with a super talented illustrator. Does it get much better?

This was a cute story. The pictures and reading level were similar to The Princess in Black. My 5 year old enjoyed and kept asking to read another chapter.

We LOVED Mercy Watson. In the span of 6 months, we probably read this entire series 4 times. This is a great series for early readers and it also makes a great first read aloud chapter book for toddlers. It’s funny, has great illustrations, and fun characters that kids love. Highly recommend!!
