A very informative account of this particular natural disaster. I like how each of the chapters are presented with timestamps at the very beginning for readers to easily get a sense of how quickly all of these events occurred. The book does a good job of emphasizing personal stories of individuals involved, from the everyday people of the city to singer Enrico Caruso to banker A.P. Giannini. Of particular note is the final chapter covering whether an earthquake of this magnitude could strike again, including information about the 1989 quake during the World Series.
