Thank you to Crown Publishing via NetGalley for this advanced copy.
Meh... This was quite enjoyable, but not really realistic in my opinion. This book mostly targets an older crowd- like women who are 40 years old and above.
Might post a comprehensive review on africanbookaddict.com, before the book is released (or maybe not lol). But this is 2.5 stars for me.

A story about change. I feel like this is something that can be really relatable. It's about a woman who is thinking about making changes in her life later in life. It is a nice and beautiful look at a journey of a woman looking to make a change.

This is a fun beach read with a fairy tale ending. Georgia Young, a twice-divorced optometrist in her mid-50s, is strangely affected by a new patient who turns out to be the daughter of an old college lover and who tells her that the man is dead. Dr. Young feels regret that she never really told him how much he enriched her life, so she decides to track down other past lovers to tell them before they pass on, too. Along the way, Georgia addresses other issues others her age will recognize: do I really want to keep doing this boring though lucrative job for the rest of my productive years? do I really need to look like my college self to feel good about my physical appearance? do I need to stay in this big house now that my children have moved away and I'm no longer married? do all available men my age have a deal-breaking issue or personality problem? do I need to give up on love and sex on terms I'm comfortable with? While there are some editing issues mostly concerned with timeline (micro and macro), they are easy to overlook. Nagging issues are the quality and quantity of her close friends
Spoiler and the race of the man she ends up with, which seemed perplexing
. Particularly disturbing to me was the pattern of Georgia's allowing others to decide what she wants and feels; I felt she did not have enough self-agency
Spoiler such as Abraham, the guy at the end, even her best friend's insistence on the "surprise" party - UGH
. I loved her mother's zest for life and the way she let her daughters lead their own lives while being supportive.

As soon as I heard the MC say she broke up with a man for being bisexual I decided not to finish. I try to read diversely and I picked this for being a MC who is older and a woman of color, but I don’t want to see that character then making negative assumptions about LGBTQIA+ people.
