This was a great example of how to do retellings!! It’s diverse, queer, and has a lot of interesting elements that were not in the source material! I especially liked the integration of indigenous French-Canadian culture of Metís. It is so beautiful!

The Secret Garden was the first book I ever owned. It was gifted to me by my second-grade teacher. I remember almost nothing about the plot but just for that fact it has a special place in my heart. This retelling was cute and sweet. The plot was rather simplistic. And they didn't spend as much time in the gardens as I'd have liked.
