I put this book down for a few days after starting it as I didn't like where I thought it was heading. But I picked it up again and read on. While this book could have turned very dark it actually seemed to finish on a whimper. We started off with Logan's story about his struggle with having to taste blood when he had sex. After nearly causing the death of a submissive from blood loss after cutting an artery, Logan seeks professional help from psychologist Kasper. Unfortunately his story unleashes something in Kasper and he is sexually aroused by Logan's stories. What happens next turns the story upside down and it becomes more about Kasper and his struggles.
While not as dark as I thought it would be it is still not a story for all. It is a cautionary tale of topping from the bottom, a dom not in control and a submissive who has no limits regarding personal injury.

this book was great.. It was well written, but what I especially liked was how it showed clearly, and with a good plot, the difference between RACK and dangerous practices. It highlights the fact that BDSM is not supposed to be actually harmful - in fact quite the opposite because it require trust in the other person. I applaud the authors for a great read!

Well, GUH. Very, very hot!

That said, this book is also a journey through addiction, desire, and love, and the author handles these issues spectacularly.

SpoilerI would have liked to see a return to Logan's blood addiction. While the story started out with it, Kasper's addiction took over and the story never really resolved Logan's past or current therapy, unless the author meant for Dr. Kerill's therapy to work for Logan in the background. He certainly did resist blood in the end of the book. It's a very minor detail though.

The stumbles and successes of the characters felt so real and believable to me. The author didn't make the characters' desires just a "I'm different and therefore special, so there!" theme. The story is much more raw and honest and, of course, shows the consequences of over-the-top limits. I really liked this book and I would recommend it to anyone who's ever felt like an outsider for their desires. And to everyone else, of course.
