Dave McKean better than anyone I'm aware of demonstrates with seeming ease how adaptability and endless imagination can and should be the strength of any artist, and especially a comics artist. Every story in this collection is approached with a careful depth, beautiful design, and incredible conviction. Dave McKean tells stories and makes art that seems stolen out of my dreams and even the most mundane of plots feels like something more.
This is the second of a two-volume set and I'm heartbroken that there isn't more of these amazing collections. Dave McKean reminds me on every page why I love comics, and I why I love being alive. This collection is about the power of story and how, when it is done right, it can be a means of helping us transcend ourselves and escape into new worlds.
