In which Murakami does bad Jarmusch. Boy meets girl. But does boy actually get girl? Boy definitely thinks of girl and, eventually, makes her summer.
Characters don’t feel fleshed out entirely as they act as talking heads, differing opinions to one sole man, Haruki himself. All of this, the loneliness, the linger conversations, will be better perfected in his later work.
Perfect for hardcore Murakami fans who want a breezy read, but can easily be skipped!
