This continuation of The Foundation Trilogy takes a different structure from the others as it follows a single continuous story rather than a series of snapshots in time. We have jumped forward to 500 years after the Seldon Plan was initiated and things are going well... too well.
A series of suspicious occurrences brings the First and Second Foundations back into conflict with each other and this time the fate of the galaxy really is at stake.
A tense and exciting story follows with mysteries to solve as we follow agents from both Foundations as well as a hapless historian stuck in the middle. Overall an enjoyable story and satisfying sequel which marks The Foundation as Asimov's greatest work to the point that we begin to see connections with his other stories. It certainly makes me want to read them, anyway.

“All humanity could share a common insanity and be immersed in a common illusion while living in a common chaos. That can't be dis-proved, but we have no choice but to follow our senses."
