After Dark Rise and Captive Prince, I wanted to give a try to Fence, a sport comic written by the same author.

When it comes to diversity, this comic far surpasses any other sport stories I've ever seen. As Pacat's others work, this story is a queernorm fiction, at least from what we have seen so far, and features a plethora of different races.

However, I had a hard time seeing this comic as an original work because of its many similarities with Haikyuu.

Some Haikyuu fans are going to love it because of this same reason, but for me, it was the absolute opposite.
It felt less exciting as I often felt like I was reading something I already knew, but about another sport.

Obviously the story is still good, but I would have enjoyed it better if I had not been a Haikyuu fan...

Personnally, I'm a Bobby fan ! I tend to love male characters with a more feminine gender expression, it's clearly my soft spot ahah
I'm also quite interested in Jesse —And I keep calling him James— and definitely hope to see more of his character in the next volume 😶‍🌫️

This was really cute! It really might be because of the fact that they're both sports-based, but this reminded me a lot of All For the Game in that we have a scrappy main character who probably shouldn't be as good as he is (Neil and Nicholas are even both really fast!) and they go to an underdog school that's better than the rankings make them appear. It's great, I love it!

Ahhhhh. That was really good.

The overall story was pretty stunning. I have read something similar to this before but the author really added their own unique twists to make it better. The pacing is seems fast, which is my only complaint.

I love the the art style! It's so sleek and really matches the story. The faces seem a little too long but I know what they are going for.

The characters are done quite well but this is really when the cliches take over. I don't have a favorite as I normally do.

I'm really looking forward for the next volumes!!
