I heard the announcement that an Ari Aster adaptation was in active development so I picked up this graphic novel from my local library. So glad I did because HOLY shit. It was a fascinating and thought provoking read that I’m still thinking about. One of those books where you seek out every review you can find just so you can hear other people’s thoughts on it. Needless to say, I think Aster will make a fine adaptation and I cannot wait to see it brought to life.

Maintains the particular brand of alienation and strangeness Nick Drnaso is known for, widening the cast of characters considerably but seems to drown under the weight of the extra baggage. Still, an intriguing struggle between reality and dreaming even if it feels a little underdeveloped, and occasionally so dry I struggled to get through. I could absolutely see this as the first half of a TV series though. Thinking something like 'Severance', 'Homecoming'. Unsettling contemporary Americana.
