This was my first introduction to Casey Bond and it was one hell of a ride.

I really enjoyed the the overall plot which followed the adventures of Castor and Forge, out to prove Castor’s innocence when she’s accused of a crime.

Bond does an amazing job of spinning the story into “a trust no one and nothing” story. Castor’s struggle as she decides who she can truly trust when her entire life has been built on lies really made for an excellent story.

Overall, the book had powerful characters, a plot filled with deception and shifting alliances, magic, and a touch of romance. Definitely add to your TBR.

But Casey —- I need more Crow. How about a book that follows him?

bog the frog 4 ever

I feel like it’s a rarity that a stand-alone fantasy adventure is put out, and this one was great. No loose ends, perfect length, and quick world building where I didn’t feel like I was getting an info dump.

this was a free book from a 2023 stuff your kindle day!

I was bored and skimming to the dialogue.  Didn't care about any of the characters and the circus, which is what I was hoping would spark my interest, was also really dull.

Such a good short read. 4 stars because in no way should this be a standalone. There is so much untapped potential in this world. Also, because I really wish it woulda been shadow instead of Crow as much as I loved Crow I'm really sick of books that don't support female relationships.
