Okay I’m a hard core Maggie Gates fan. The Beaufort Poker Club still has my entire heart and soul.
I loved a lot about this book and there were some things that just didn’t work for me.
So what I loved:
- I loved that Wren is an interior designer and does cheerleading. She is a strong FMC and I love that.
- her dad is the cutest and I just loved him.
- I loved that this is an interracial couple
- I loved the Spice it was great
- I loved that this is a Sports Romance. I needed more of that so it was great.
What I struggled with:
- I loved Tatum but his sweetness was almost too much at times with the things he would say and tie it into her nickname and it came on too cheesy and just not realistic
- I love a good one night stand that turns into a relationship. But where this one fell flat for me is that there was not enough relationship build and it relied too much on on the spice vs the emotional connection to get to an I love you when it did. Now, I will say we did get more of an emotional connection the back half which helped a lot with making me love this couple.
So overall I did enjoy the book and will continue to read anything and everything that Maggie puts into the world and I’m excited to see what she does next!
