A book that broke me and at the same time put my heart together.

This was yet another book by Ms Scott that just basically made me not sleep till 3 am until I finished the book. And it took me out from a biggest book slump I had in years.

I love Ginger’s books. And Loner was not an exception. A broken heroine and a broken hero. I like that Theo was a bit of an a** but he wasn’t the bully type one.

I loved Lily. Quiet one but with a spark that is just waiting to be set free. And it is set free by Theo. And the way Ms Scott has done is just so down to earth. Nothing that would not happen in normal life. They were simply normal teenagers connected by a common thing. Loss. Grief. And ways of dealing with it. I loved every bit of this book and I loved Theo almost as much as I love Nate from This is Falling by her.

Solid 4.5 stars. Why? I just needed that more of relieving trauma between them. Theo to push Lily to know what happened so he can understand it wasn’t as easy as he thought at the beginning it was.

Amazing. Can I please get next one?

This will be the one book you will not be able to put down - and you will need Kleenex or a glass of wine when it is all over. Ginger Scott brings her readers a wonderful but heart wrenching story of finding love after loss. Theo and Lily had made a connection at a school party, but it was destroyed when tragedy struck, leaving them both alone and filled with guilt. But when they both return to school will the guilt turn to hatred? Or can they both overcome the loss and sense of helplessness? So emotional I think I cried three times. The reader can feel the despair they both feel but only want them to come together to fill each other's void. Things happen for a reason and in the end you are left to pick up the pieces.

4.5 stars.

I agonized over how to rate this story.
While I loved Theo and Lily together—their journey through their shared grief, the bond they built, their obvious chemistry—it was quite light on the romance aspect. I mean, it was there in small (but very intense) instances, it just wasn't the main focus of the book.

I'm not saying the book wasn't good.
It was amazing. Spectacular even.
It delved into deep topics (there will be triggers for some readers) and really captured the way grief can affect people differently.
The way that trauma can change you, change your relationships, your mindset, and your confidence.

I really enjoyed getting to meet this group of students, finding out how they all meshed together and seeing how the different relationships worked. And, although it was emotionally heavy, I adored seeing the way that Theo and Lily worked out their issues and found a way to be together.

The ending was really sweet. A perfect tribute to Anika, it made me smile.

This is a great start to this new series. These charaters are very well written and I devoured them.

Loved the journey of Lily and Theo. The story came alive from the first page until the end. I like to go into a story blind and think it is best for everyone to do that. I will say that Ginger has an incredible sense of YA characters. Looking forward to the next one in the series.

After the trauma that Lily and Theo faced, things changed for them. Theo was now cold and wanted Lily gone. Slowly he starts to realize maybe Lily isn't at fault for how things turned out and that she is also suffering.

Watching Theo fight with how he thinks he should feel versus how he does was sad. He wanted so badly to push Lily away. In the end, love wins.

I was in the mood for something angsty and this delivered for awhile. Once the couple got together officially, though, things went downhill for me, even though I did like them. I thought the plot just got kind of unrealistic and super corny. There's also some super serious topics that are just touched upon. I think if you're going to bring up those things, you need to do something responsible them - especially in a YA book.
