This was a captivating comic book ! Aimed to please a kids audience, I found myself enjoying it very much !

We follow Erin, a kid who wants to be popular but ends up without any technology as she is punished by her parents. She then realizes that everyone is mind controlled by aliens through technology and now that she's free of that influence, she needs to team up with older people to save the earth from an alien invasion !

This was a lot of fun and I love the drawing style. Erin was super cute, and I would have loved to read such comics when I was younger (even though I still enjoyed it as an adult haha !)

Obviously there is the "technology is making you a slave to it" message and it exaggerates a lot this aspect, but this is a comic for kids, and if you want to convey a message, you have to go a little over the top. I don't think it will make any kid stop using their phones, but it's still nice to see this topic adressed in a book,, especially for the youngest. I definitely would recommend it to kids between 8 and 13 !

Godawful. So preachy and in the nose with the thinnest sliver of plot and barely and character development. Also, not really sure what age this is for because they’re reading SE Hinton’s The Outsiders, but the characters act as though they’re in 6th or 7th grade.

I was given this free review copy graphic novel at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I loved this so much! I loved Erin. She was a fun and lovable character. The artwork was fabulous. I would definitely read something else by Mat Heagerty! The story was different and unique. I loved the concept. When you first meet Erin she is just like every young teen, but she grows so much in this graphic novel!

Sigh. This just wasn't for me.

Erin Song is grounded from using electronic devices after cheating on a test in a wild attempt at becoming popular in school, and while that's pretty nope, turns out aliens are kidnapping people by using electronic mind-control. Cue Erin having to save the world.

The idea is great, but the execution was lacking a bit.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

It's a short, fast paced read. The premise is really interesting and the protagonist is someone a lot of teens would relate to. I enjoyed it. Great for a light read. However, I would have preferred a little more information to get to know the character and to establish the amplitude of the threat they're facing before they go and do something about it. There wasn't enough time to connect or sympathize with her.

What a cute, funny read! There's a growing market for graphic novels and I think this one will do very well; it has the right balance of humour and storyline to really get people interested. The art is lovely, all bright colours and soft edges, and each character is distinct enough even for me. All in all, a great read. I hope to see more like this.
