I loved this book, In ways this book felt like it was written for me. The majority of my down time (when not reading) is spent playing video games, all kinds of video games. So reading about the process of making video games, both the creative and literal coding process, was right up my alley. This compounded with the characters in the story. Sadie Green, Sam Masur, Marx and their families were characters I could read about endlessly. They felt fully fleshed out, realistic and complex. ALSO!! The story was focused on friendship and the reality that even if the guy wants the girl, his childhood best friend that he's known for life, it doesn't mean that they'll inevitably end up together like seemingly every other trope that's left me feeling a bit unsatisfied in books. I'm looking forward to picking this one up again eventually as well as passing my copy onto other friends.

Thinking back on my review later and what I enjoyed about this book, it’s hard to describe it all in words and concisely. There was so much I enjoyed about the experience of reading this book.

I wanted to dnf this book by page 9 - I had to look up so many new words just in the first 9 pages and the whole rest of the book too! This is the first non-linear storyline I’ve read and at first I was so confused, but I kept reading. By page 100 I was in love with the story and the characters and I actually loved the nonlinear storyline, it made the story so deep and textured in a way I haven’t yet experienced. By the end of the book i physically felt the nostalgia and absolutely cried multiple times! This was a beautiful story about friendship, love, aspiration, heartbreak and growth.

The first 100 pages of the book is a masterpiece in story telling. I thought ill read like 20 pages but it had me HOOKED. Sam's way of thinking is really relatable for me, the way this story functions and flows is so masterfully done and it had me very very hooked to a limit were I did not think it was possible to put down the book.

Although the sudden change in plot 3/4th way through felt really dramatic and out of nowhere it felt genuinely right. It made the book a little too soap opera'y it works once the shock is over, The way loss can paralyze you; how you loose the pov of Sadie; how even tho she has to get back she just physically cant. Magical

every character is so well written and seeps into your psyche. Sam, Sadie, Marx, Ant, Simon, Dong Hyung and even Sadie's grandmother that imbues such a good life lesson I really wish I had more time to spend inside Sadie's head beyond her relationships as compared to others

Helps me work on my grief of loosing a friendship

Would have liked the story more if the sad stuff didn't happen but thats also life lol

There is so much I want to talk about

The ending is so somber and it works so well.

Honestly just not impressed with this book. Took me forever to get through, didn’t feel connected to the characters so I never felt the heart break/life crisis of this book. I mostly just felt annoyed with the main characters.
