this was tough. especially coming off the high of the 2nd book. this book is padded with so much useless nonsense. i’d say it had a strong start, everything leading up to Fitz’s dumbass attempt at assassinating Regal was great. but everything else was zzzzzz

one that i did find cool was the psychedelic elements. the magic system in this book is fascinating and you really get a feel for how viscerally psychoactive the “skill” is

so far Hobb has built a reputation for great climaxes. this one was pretty great but just wasn’t worth the buildup. i still really liked it though

so i’m kind of torn. lots to love in this book but it felt like a marathon to finish. i’m hoping that the next book kicks it up a notch but from what i can gather, the next trilogy is the best in the series so i have that to look forward to

Last part in the trilogy. Still very enjoyable to read. Sometimes very exciting.

I did not really like the end of the story very much. But I'm still very happy that I've read this trilogy.

The ending of this book really brings it down. However, keep in mind that it is not really the end in fact still the beginning since Hobb has written so many more books in this world.
