This is one of my absolute favorite books, by one of my favorite authors. I rarely pick up the same book twice, but I've read The Blue Girl at least four times. Imogene Yeck is a compelling character on her own, but I love Maxine, Pelly, Jared Yeck, even the twisted fairies. A wonderful, wonderful read.

An inventive tale as always, but more YA and simple than some of de Lint's other novels.

The Blue Girl falls on the more high school YA side of the spectrum for Charles de Lint. Imogene meets Maxine on her first day in a new school and decides to go with quality over quantity in friends when she picks an outcast as her new best friend. The fantastic elements in the story bring both friendship and danger and the girls have to rely on their own wits and bravery to get out of their supernatural predicament unscathed.

Haven't read this since shortly after it came out. It's pretty retro in its way, now, but as someone who was a teen about the time it came out, I can deal with that, and the story is pretty awesome, even if the cultural references are pretty dated.

Meh. A friend recommended I read this based on our mutual love of YA without a romantic focus, and this fits the criteria. But other than scaring the poop out of me when I tried to read it at night, I have just lukewarm feelings about it.

I loved this book, and I loved the way they fought off the darkness so much!
