it was very much lackluster. i had high expectations going into this duology (but thats my fault) because i had just finished reading 'lords of mercy" which exceeded my expectations and so from that high... this didn't cut it. I feel like this book would have benefited from a trilogy or even a longer book 1. I just wish there were more tension and that the authors concentrated more on the enemies before they went to lovers.
Like 2 weeks isnt enough to get the mc to fall hell over heels over these boys. the thing is dont mind insta- love, but i was not here for it in this story, or maybe the way it was fleshed out.
Maybe i'm a bit depraved as i needed more traumatic shit to happen, but then again like i said, the royals of Forsyth ruined my reading expectations when it comes to bully romance ( besides zodiac academy).
Im gonna finish the duology coz its a very quick read, but yeah...
Also, im a bit put off with how Briar is navigating her friendship with Simone and Jack... those a genuine poeples and it should be understandable how they feel. It's like she aint have regards for them despite her knowing why they're apprehensive of the "kings". maybe the boys, especially samson will be able to be truthful and vulnerable with them bc Micah was their friend

Despite this being a bully romance, it didn’t really last that long and there weren’t a lot of bullying before they managed to let out all that anger… through another outlet. This is a fast burn romance where there’s a lot of steamy scenes, with just the right amount of plot. Expect to get to touch what haunts our main characters, and what about their backgrounds made them the way they are.
I’m hoping for a little more action in the next and final book, rather than more steamy scenes but I honestly can’t complain that much because they were all very hot. I liked the addition of Samson in the harem and how he gives some sort of balance with the alphaholes and I wish I can know about him more. I need a lot of answers and I can’t wait for the next book!
