A cliched noir novella with touches of magical realism.

We are introduced to a cuckolded gambler Arthur in the first half. What is the first thing you'd guess would happen next? Yes, that's exactly what happens - he obviously runs out of money and gets into trouble with his loan shark.

The second half brings a "twist" with a dash of fantasy / magical realism. But once you know what that is, you can guess what the ending is going to be like.

This is an easy novella which I would recommend to someone who wants to get out of a reading slump and doesn't mind a little bit of a predictable or cliched plot - it's just a 100 pages and can be finished in a sitting. I see a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews, so I'm in the minority.

But I haven't written off Scott yet, and will give [b:Graveyard Love|28436280|Graveyard Love|Scott Adlerberg|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1451791959l/28436280._SY75_.jpg|47257109] a chance.
