I so wanted to love this book. I looked forward to reading it for so long. It was just too boring. If it was half the length it could have been much better, but it was way too dragged out. I really enjoyed the indigenous perspective but as an ecologist I found the ecology boring. I also can't believe her encounters with students. The things they said... I'm sorry, it just can't be real.

Enchanting, smart, illuminating. These essays highlight the well-worn bridge between humanity and the natural world that our modern minds often refuse to acknowledge. Beautiful.

I don’t give a book 5 stars very often, but this one deserves them all — in my opinion. :-) I absolutely loved it. I especially loved listening to the author read it on Audible. She was great. If you read the teaser about this book and it sounds at all interesting to you, I bet you’ll love it.
