I’m feeling that the series will be my new favourite YA FANTASY series !
Sabaa Tahir’s is a genius, because not only the plot is amazing. But we also have amazing character arcs, interesting stories and an incredible writing style.

A very good sequel to An Ember in the Ashes. Loved reading Helenes POV. It made me understand her in a new way. The Emperor and the Commander are evolving as characters, and the story around Laia and Elias are intensifying.

So. Freaking. Good. Sabaa Tahir hits it out of the park again. Just when you think it doesn't get any better than An Ember in the Ashes, this wordsmith goddess blesses us with the masterpiece that is A Torch Against the Night.

Honestly, it's not a bad book. I was in a reading slump and the characters (with the exception of Helene) didn't interest me enough to push through. I held on and didn't start another book for like a month after I really stopped reading, but eventually just gave up.

Wow, this was engaging, immersive, and so so beautiful. The twists were so good and I really enjoyed the addition of Helene’s perspective.
