I did not enjoy reading this book. That's a shame, but cause it *is* good, just not my cup of tea. It has been described as a German 'Ulyssess', and like Joyce's novel, it has a tendency to browbeat its reader with an overwhelming stream of the daily life of its setting.

It wasn't until the end of the text that everything came together, but I'm glad that it did. Worth a read? Your mileage will vary, but it is worthwhile should you choose to read the sordid tale of Franz Biberkopf.
