learned a lot from this, especially about the second intifada which was happening during these interviews and the wretched "peace process" that was a more recent phenomenon at the time.

so much of israel's behavior and bullshit talking points is the same now as it was then — Said cuts right through it and exposes the colonial core of the situation which is as relevant as ever. and Said's analysis of "terrorism" and the US' then-newly-launched global "war on terror" is very nuanced, insightful, and useful today. he touches on European anti-semitism, the US military industrial complex, zionist censorship and mainstream media racism in the US, internal Palestinian & broader Arab political culture, and more that was all interesting and sometimes new to me.

it's interview format which makes it easy to understand, and the interviewer was great. they didn't actually discuss the role of culture in resistance that much, mainly just in the last chapter. friends — let me know if you want to borrow it!

Obviously it’s Edward Said so at a certain level i loved it but for me it was a bit too context dependent based on a period of Palestinian history that o am not so well versed in. He makes good points about culture and resistance so i wish that bit was longer
