expected them to both die at the end but when they didn't I looked at the back I saw that there was a second book so that was a surprise. kind of liked the book more when Juliette hated Roma but forgiveness is good so I cant complain.

Started off a little iffy but ended fucking strong. The characters are interesting and I very much enjoyed the dynamics, not just between the FMC and MMC, but the side characters as well. Lots of interesting and juicy relationships going on there, I'm excited to see how they develop in the second book.

It took me awhile to get into the plot, but mainly bc of a dissonance between the historical fiction and fantasy aspects of the story. It felt almost like the fantasy aspect put in too much and I spent a long time wishing that it was just historical fiction/romance. Maybe half way through I finally got used to it, and ultimately did very much enjoy the plot. But for me personally, the fantasy aspects were the weakest part of the plot (which is INSANE coming from me but 🤷🤷🤷)

Ending was great. The monsters made me want to crawl out of my skin omg. Fucking nightmare fuel this is supposed to be YA 😤😤😤

I feel like I should take off 0.5 ⭐ for the anti-communism throughout 😅😅😅
points I guess for the bad guy being an uber capitalist

I couldn’t take the writing style. It reads dramatic but in a really juvenile way - almost like it belongs on AO3.
