kn0tp0rk's review against another edition
3.0
I read this because I have an interest in philosophy rather than for a course. I have the third edition only because it is what I picked up randomly from Half Price Books.
Some works are certainly terse (Plato), others feel like a bunch of word salad (Kant), but still there were many that I was happy to read. I wish the authors were more diverse. This is mostly white male Western philosophy with a few women sprinkled in between and one (?) black man. The language at times is offensive only because it's out-dated. I did like the inclusion of authors arguing against each other.
There are probably better books to learn about philosophy from, but I definitely would not say that I regret having read this one.
