Some puzzles are great, some not so much, particularly those that require specialist knowledge. Of some puzzles I liked the basic idea, but getting from there to the solution was frustrating. One puzzle was unsolvable, even the excellent help forum failed to provide a step-by-step solution.

Short & sweet review: so it’s not a traditional book, but I LOVED this and am definitely picking up the sequel. Journal 29 is an interactive, interwoven puzzle game with a bit of narrative throughout. The puzzles were a mix of “so-easy-I-could-do-this-in-my-sleep” and “help-I-need-a-hint!” which kept me on my toes and gave my brain a real workout. If you love puzzles or want to try something new, but still want to keep it bookish, Journal 29 is perfect! Puzzles are not usually subject to the traditional book rating system, but I give everything about this five out of five stars.

I loved this! It contains unique puzzles with a varying degree of difficulty.
It often requires you to think outside the box and for the most part prior knowledge isn't necessary, although I sometimes had to look up some things on the Internet.
I'd love to get the second one!

How did I not know this was a thing???? This is a book filled with puzzles, mostly logic, and it’s so much fun! The only reason it is not 5 stars is because some puzzles were repetitive (not many, it wasn’t a huge issue), and it proposes a story that is not there. I already started the sequel and there is a story, so already off to a great start! (I am considering this as a book read because it is available on Goodreads)
