This book is a really quick read, and I have to imagine one of the most accessible anti-war books ever written. Beyond the memorable lines, the structure really allows you to experience the whiplash the main character feels when he has PTSD flashbacks (or rather when he time travels) in a way that is easy to understand and relate to. Horrifying imagery is written in such a jarring and matter of fact way, it really effectively gets across the flippant way society addresses loss in times of war. I halfway read this book in high school (sparknotes), and I’m really glad I went back and actually read it for real.
