I flew through this! So much fun to read with amazing characters. They were written so well that I felt like they were real people. The only thing that let me down was that I was a bit underwhelmed with the ending - I felt like I was holding out for an exciting plot twist but instead got a quick wrap up of everyone’s story in a nice little bow. Still loved this book though!

This book was a great portrayal of the struggles women face in equality. The novel is set in the 60s which is a brilliant choice for magnifying gender inequality. The writing is superb, I was sad every time I was forced to put this book down. The writer has a way of making the diverse set of characters incredibly human with the detailed descriptions of their relationships, internal turmoil and subtle emotional reactions and growth. The storyline is wonderful, my only minor disappointment is the ending. It was an ideal and very neat ending, which is fine…but it just felt out of tune with the rest of the book. While the rest of the book captures the struggles of gender inequality and is very realistic, the ending feels a little passive more like a fairytale. 

Overall I think this is an amazing book and definitely worth the read.
