I fell in love with the concept. The execution however was not it. At all. Not only did it read like a super YA novel and did not change as the characters grew older (so it sounded like a freshman narrator the entire time), but I just didn’t care. The characters problems were stupid and when there was a conflict, it was so quickly resolved. Also, why were there weird time jumps back and forth? From the description, I thought they would only develop over the May 7ths, but of course that was wishful thinking on my part. It seemed like it would be enemies to lovers but instead I got freshman who never grew up. The mentions of them having sex also felt out of place based on the writing style (which was just telling, aka no descriptions that detailed what was happening outside of what the characters said or did). By the end I just didn’t care that she got into college or that Alex got hurt (more nonsense drama for no reason) .
Minor: Gaslighting
