I LOVED this book. The hurt/comfort vibes were everything. And the twist.... Ruby Dixon, what have you done to my heart?!?

Crulden wakes in a cell with on clear memories other than that he's a gladiator. He doesn't want to cooperate with his new master, but he will if they give him Mina, the human woman who isn't afraid of him. He finds her fascinating. All Mina wants to do is escape. Can the two of them survive in this harsh, alien world?

I love Mina. She is one of my favorite Ruby heronies. And Crulden just about broke my heart. If you like monster romance, you need to read this book.

The earnestness and confidence used to say, “I said, I wish you had a penis.”

It was good but didn’t have much world building or depth.

The monster is not what he seems and the slave isn't as helpless as she leads on to be. I fully went into this story expecting it to only be a 3 star read. Yet I found myself stuck to each page as we got to know Crulden and Mina more.

Wow what a page turner. With not much in the way of plot the flow of the book was perfection. We get a look into the world of space gladiators and slaves alike. Enter Mina, the human slave who tries to escape the notice of all those who rule over her in order to survive. And the bloodthirsty Crulden the Ruiner (or so he seems to be bloodthirsty? Right?). Judging by his lack of memories and how Ruby Dixon built her universe it was obvious that Crulden was a clone but I was still left guessing if he was the real deal. It wasn't until they described Crulden in the vids when I solidified my suspicions that he was just a clone (thankfully). I don't think readers would be able to get past the real Crulden. But hey, there's still Worse Guy I need to read and if there is anything Ruby Dixon is good at is changing my mind about characters. Characters you're supposed to seemingly despise or retort are somehow loveable and relatable. All but Lord Sir, he can suck a nut
