Similar to the show so not many surprises. But I did enjoy it and am curious to keep reading, especially since I stopped watching the show after season 2.

I watched season one of the Netflix series before reading this book which, I felt, really constricted the ways I could imagine this novel, I still really liked it and would continue the series hopefully now with a blank page as I haven't seen the other seasons (and don't really plan to đ

My gut says 3.5 (rounding up to 4)
Speed run okay.
First off the author feels a bit sexist. I like the story and love the world but the women were all sorta shallow and Geralt kept thinking some kinda mysogynistic things... I like this story and I am optimistic about future books. But some comments about ugly women rubbed me the wrong way.
1) Geralt and dandelion are good friends... what??? After watching the Netflix show, seeing these guys talk is weird.
2) back to Geralt talking... he does it a lot. Thereâs a chapter thatâs just his dialogue!!! Come on Netflix Witcher, Iâm pretty sure Henry Cavill could memorize some lines.
3) yennefer is cool, I like her and Geralt but in this short story it was a bit insta-lovey. Also he is brainwashed by her then immediately wants to fuck... maybe he was just that horny I guess.
4) I get that it set up some angst for the series but fridging Lola cause she saw his destiny was lame. Like whyâd she die???? Bruh
5) if they made jaskier (dandelion) greasy and as much of a sex fiend in the show I donât think there would be as many âuwu jaskierâ fans. But also in the show having fewer characters talk about needing to grab womenâs asses is cool and I get that creative choice.
6) I like the twist on fairy tales
Over all loved. And tbh the misogyny from some characters was no worse than some got characters so like still good.
