Mundane things like saving to afford a house, looking for work, slipping over and injuring yourself on an icy road, having to be friendly and invite people around, ambivalence about vegetarianism and politics. Anyone's life really but now add being gay for a degree of difficulty.

I found this very relateable. Erika and Frances do not have all the answers or even all the cash. They struggle, they wonder if they are doing the right things, they wrinkle and they age. They love each other, they make love- this is not shown in detail but it is clear they both enjoy it and continue to enjoy it as they age.

Tender, sad, ordinary...this is a beautiful portrait of a relationship even if nothing much happens (did I mention they age). An unexpected reunion is somewhat anticlimactic. Nothing is allowed to upstage the love of Frances and Erika for each other.
