I really wanted to love this book but it draaaaaaaged so much and I didn’t have any vested interest in any of the characters or their outcomes.

Beautifully written and page-turning. This book lets one of literature’s most maligned heroines tell her own story. The plot is a bit fanciful and sometimes feels too tidy, even bordering on anachronism, but it’s a comforting and charming book about the ways women can turn to each other to overcome heartbreak and cruelty. The book is evocative and enchanting and its imagery is immersive and unique. It’s a lovely story narrated beautifully.
