I've said it before and I'll say it again: this is a great concept and I really loved this book!!

Gavin is the cutest - I love that he learned with his mistakes and that he worked hard to earn Thea back. Fixing a relationship shouldn't be easy and shouldn't be about only a big gesture. This book proved it.

I also loved that Gavin wasn't the only one learning and that Thea realised that she was wrong too. A relationship is composed of two people and if there are problems, they exist because of those 2 people. Not one. Two.

Lastly, I loved the Bromance Book Club. They were supportive, funny and honestly, specialists in women's language (specially Mack, so I'm very excited for his book). Men should read this book to learn from these men!

Loved how toxic masculinity was the focus but also it was the men doing the work. Didn't like how the russian didn't have a name until the end, got the impression that the other baseball boys didn't like him

I really liked Gavin and I typically enjoy the “marriage in trouble trope” since I like seeing people put in the work to keep something going when times get hard. But Thea was so frustrating as a character. I couldn’t understand why Gavin liked her at all or why he was fighting for her. She was so grouchy. Usually the other ones I’ve read with this trope I think it made more sense why they loved each other.

Audiobook. Dragged in the middle. Picked up around 2/3 through. Well written. Cute premise. Could have been more tightly edited. Characterization so-so. Villain was one dimensional (and a small part, but that was fine), heroine was a blank slate. Story gives no reason for heroine's behavior until about 90% through the book. Hero was well-defined, if dull. FANTASTIC meta, especially for readers and writers of romance. The primary audiobook narrator does girls' and women's voices like they are all exasperated Valley girls and it was annoying. The narrator for the Regency was fabulous and struck the exact right slightly-over-the-top tone.
